Flushing Meeting to Host Community Meal

Flushing-SOUPlogoThe Peace & Social Action Committee (PSAC) of Flushing Meeting will be hosting a community meal organized by the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce on Friday, April 15, 5-7pm.  This potluck event, “Greater Flushing SOUP,” is a new initiative to promote and support grassroots projects designed to better serve those who live and work in our community.

We expect many of these projects will be youth-led and focus on environmental stewardship or public service.  This event will also kick off a series of Earth Day related activities during the month of April.

Here’s the way it works.  For a $5 donation, attendees gain access to a potluck dinner where they will eat, learn, and vote for one of four projects they think will have the largest positive impact on the greater Flushing community. At the end of the evening, we count the ballots and award all the money collected at the door to the project with the most votes. Join us for Flushing’s first SOUP!
